Tax: Renew M2M credential and manage passwords for the keystore file

How to Renew Your M2M Credential and Manage Keystore Passwords in Access Elite

Managing your M2M credentials and keystore files is essential for maintaining secure access in Access Elite. This guide provides step-by-step instructions for renewing your M2M credential and managing the associated passwords.

Overview of Credential Access

M2M (Machine-to-Machine) credentials are used to securely connect Access Elite with the ATO (Australian Taxation Office) systems. Proper management of these credentials, including renewal and password handling, ensures uninterrupted access to ATO services.

Steps for M2M Credential Renewal

  1. Access ATO Access Manager: Log in to the ATO Access Manager to renew your M2M credential.

  2. Download the New Keystore File: After renewing the credential, download the updated keystore file from the ATO RAM (Relationship Authorisation Manager) website.

  3. Replace the Old Keystore File in Access Elite: - Navigate to the relevant section in Access Elite (e.g., ATO Processing > PLS Setup). - Replace the old keystore file with the newly downloaded one. - If necessary, delete the old keystore file before importing the new one.

Password Management for Keystore Files

  • Password Requirements: When downloading the keystore file from the ATO RAM website, you will be prompted to create a password. This password is unique to the keystore file and is required whenever you create or import the credential into Access Elite.

  • Password Retrieval: Access Elite does not store or have access to your keystore file or its password. If you forget the password, it cannot be retrieved or reset. You must use the original password created during the download process.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

  • Forgotten Password: If you cannot recall the password for your keystore file, you will need to download a new M2M credential and create a new keystore file.

  • Keystore File Replacement: Ensure that the old keystore file is deleted before importing the new one to avoid conflicts.

By following these steps and guidelines, you can effectively manage your M2M credentials and ensure secure access to ATO services through Access Elite.
