To resolve the validation errors complete the following steps:
Validation errors in tax returns often occur when trust or partnership distributions are linked to an individual return but are not properly configured. Common causes include linked distributions requiring distribution amounts and incorrect trust income entries that prevent proper validation.
Navigate to Income 13. Partnerships and trusts.
Click on 2. Share of net income from trusts.
Click on Worksheet.
Review each worksheet and either delete it or complete it with blank data.
Click Next until the Validation Page.
Validate the return to confirm the errors are resolved.
If errors persist, go to the Income section, locate the trust income worksheet, and enter 0 for Non-Primary Production (NPP) income related to managed investments.
If you are still unable to update the worksheet, you will need to break the relationship between partnership and/or trust distributions using the steps below:
Additionally, to correct distribution errors, open the trust return, navigate to the Distribution section, access the affected Trust worksheet, and enter 0 in the specified field before saving the return.
Go to the Client, click View Jobs.
Select Tax and untick the two boxes under Tax status.
Close the individual return before proceeding to unlink distributions.
Under Tax Status, untick the following two boxes:
Allow Distributions from Trust/P'ship.
Transfer Shared Jobs to this Return.
Reopen the return.
Re-enter any details needed back into income 13.
Reopen the individual return and run Validation to confirm all issues are resolved.
