Practice Management: Create a backup in Elite Desktop

How to backup and find the Elite backup file.

Follow the below to backup the Elite desktop database:

  1. Open Practice Management.

  2. From the top panel, select the Practice Setup tab.

  3. Click on Backup.

  4. The Backup Options screen will pop up. If you need to change the save location, click on Browse and navigate to the file path required.

  5. Take note of this file path so you can locate your backup easily. On Windows, the default backup location is typically under a directory such as C:\Users\[USERNAME]\Documents\Reckon Elite Files\Elite Backup or a similar folder within the Reckon/Elite files directory.

  6. Select Standard as the Type of backup.

  7. Click Backup.

Tips for Managing Backup Files

  • Choose an Accessible Location: Store your backup files in a folder that is easy to access and remember.

  • Avoid Overwriting: If storing backups in the same folder as your current data, ensure the files are clearly labeled to avoid accidental overwriting.

  • Verify File Integrity: Regularly check your backup files to confirm they are complete and up-to-date.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

  • Cannot Locate Backup Files: Double-check the default backup location path in the software settings.

  • File Not Recognized During Restore: Ensure the file format is compatible (e.g., .zip or .bak) and that the file is not corrupted.
